PHILOSOPHY
"ex perfecto nihil fit"
From what is perfect, nothing becomes.
Curiously, my passage to the act to paint cornes from my fascination for the philosophical, mystical, and esoteric writings.
What catches my eyes, for example, with the sight of the sculptures of Gislebertus artist on the cathedral of Autun, it is not his works but his signature: « Gislebertus hoc fit », that is to say: « Gislebertus made ».
When l started to work painting, I immediately associated the colors with the matters whole or part of the famous poem of Kipling « If, orYou will be a man my son ».
For me connection between these various writings is the desire to transmit a knowledge.
After the evolution of the mankind, genetically speaking, this évolution continued by the transmissions of informations, of knowledge by means of myths, symbols, philosophies which were created, continued to survive and are always there.
These various points of view accumulated during ages, and constitute an always increasing « library » whose diversity helps to advance those which seek and which transmit to their tum.
I personally chose to study them in a transverse way, without me to specialize in a field: I am interested as much in the Tao as with the Cabal, while passing by alchemy, Buddhist philosophy, the quantum physics and many other things stiIl...
These apparently different approaches reflect for me the same research which lasts since the night of times : « from were are we going, who are we, where shall we go ? » with proposaIs for answers which are rather keys to advance that true answers.
ln my painting, I try to insert in filigree this research, but not while seeking to cause a mental process of reasoning, but rather an emotional, unconscious, subliminal accompaniment and esthetics of this reasoning, concemed with our collective unconscious.
I work on fabric prepared in reliefs and writings and by very liquid successive layers.
My purpose is to obtain a maximum effect between colors, matter, light, and often writings.
I use tools less and less, the color which runs and my fingers are enough for me.
I am myself tool among the tools.
l function in a not logical, but arborescent way; to take again words of Pierre Soulages, it is what occurs on the fabric which advances me, I never know in advance what will occur.
I work as if I was in the black and a labyrinth, layer of color after layer of color, the light increases and I must choose a direction.
I do not work with my sight because I do not work with any reference outside.
Everything is coming out from the bottom of the labyrinth.
I am an explorer of interiors worlds, perhaps mine, perhaps those of the collective unconscious, perhaps both.
As the fabric advances, I begin to distinguish them.
I make portraits of soul, photographs of feelings, landscapes of unconscious.
And more time advances, more my cartography of explorer increases...
